With us for an earlier part of the overview were Richard Bearak from the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President, Annemarie Gray of NYCEDC, and Lloyd Lesperance, Chief of Staff to Council Member Espinal. The students will be studying the district as part of their Spring semester design studio. We look forward to their concepts!
Hollywood Comes to East Brooklyn
February 2018
Filming of Edward Norton's adaptation of "Motherless Brooklyn" (based on a novel of the same name by Jonathan Lethem) commenced on Belmont Avenue. Period cars (ca. 1950s) and costumes enlivened the EBBID streetscape. The East Brooklyn District Management Association coordinated with the film crew for the temporary removal of BID banners to create historical authenticity. Audiences will get a glimpse of old-time East New York!
